How Does It Work?
How Does Missouri Humanities Corps Work?
Location of Service:
Members are hosted at sites in rural regions around the state (outside of Jackson, Greene, Boone, Cole, and St. Louis County and City) where they provide capacity-building services to their local cultural heritage organizations.
Primary Duties (75% of time):
Spending 75% of their time at their host sites, Humanities Corps members help with projects ranging from creating exhibits, cultural heritage-focused digital and in-person public programming, marketing material and strategies, digitizing historical documents and items, curating and preserving historical items, and recruiting and training volunteers.
Secondary Duties (25% of time):
The other 25% of members’ time is dedicated to assisting local organizations without full-time staff with these same tasks, often on a smaller scale.
Terms of Service:
Members serve a 1-year term with the opportunity to serve two additional 1-year terms. In that short time members leave a lasting impact on the communities they serve. While members can make a lasting impact on the communities they serve and provide assistance with capacity-building projects, there are a few activities members are not permitted to engage with.
