Peace, Good Fellowship, Fraternity, and Cigar Smoke – The St. Louis Veterans of the Blue and Gray

Historian Amy Fluker chronicles the brief but interesting history of a rare veterans society that opened membership to both ex-Confederate and Union veterans in Missouri, explores what “reconciliation” after the Civil War meant to Missourians in the late 19th century. and how they hoped to achieve it.
