Lines That Carry: A Veteran’s Writing Workshop on Metaphor

September 20 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Join us on Saturday, September 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Union 238 in the Elliott Student Union (511 South Holden Street, Warrensburg, MO 64093) for a free, hands-on writing workshop led by poet and veteran Nick Lopez.

Designed for veterans, service members, and their families, this workshop explores the use of metaphor as a tool for self-expression, reflection, and storytelling. Using Taylor Mali’s Metaphor Dice as a creative entry point, participants will engage in writing exercises, group discussion, and brief readings to discover how metaphor can express complex experiences and strengthen creative voice.

No prior writing experience is necessary. Only a willingness to engage is required.

Registration is required to attend this free event.

Presented by Missouri Humanities in partnership with the University of Central Missouri.

Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of “Proud to Be: Writing of American Warriors.”
