Growing Up with the River: Nine Generations on the Missouri by Dan and Connie Burkhardt explores our state’s rich cultural heritage through the eyes of nine generations of children growing up in river towns from Hermann to the Confluence.

We invite you to watch this virtual storytelling journey that brings “Growing Up with the River” to life and invites families, and people of all ages, to connect with Missouri history, conservation, and culture. The 10-part series aired in the Summer of 2020 and explores the Missouri River Valley from 1806 and into the future. Each chapter features a narration by a guest storyteller, interpretation by special guest experts and a fun, chapter-related kid-friendly activity to do at home.
