On October 7, 2023, we invited Missourians to “Find Your Story” at the inaugural Heartland Book Festival, a partnership with the Kansas City Public Library and the Missouri Affiliate for the Center for the Book. Festival goers explored story and literature through new photography exhibitions, musical and theater performances, panel discussions featuring local and national authors, creative pep talks, writing, tarot, collage, and print-making workshops, a featured presentation from international best selling author Karin Slaughter, and face time with celebrated children’s authors and illustrators.
The Heartland Book Festival is a partnership between Missouri Humanities, the Kansas City Public Library, and the Missouri Center for the Book.
The event is FREE for general audiences. Next year’s festival is already in the works!
