Docents will be posted at burial sites of prominent Missourians dating back to the mid to late 1800s to give short histories. Other sites will be marked with signs with the biographical sketch of the person interred there.
The final resting places of those interred in Riverview Cemetery compose a sweeping patchwork of history, telling the story of Cole County from its beginnings and those who helped shape the community we have today. Declared a Jefferson City Local Landmark, Riverview Cemetery reflects our rich history and provides an important perspective in bringing a connection to our past.
The stories of persons from all walks of life interred here, including Missouri governors, prominent historic figures, and other notable individuals, will be shared with you by docents posted throughout the cemetery. Where you see balloons flying will mark sites of many people from Cole County’s past that played a prominent role in our history.
