Join Missouri Humanities for its final “Roots & Routes” Signature Series program of the year. Missouri Humanities is teaming up with the Missouri Folk Arts Program, University of Missouri-Columbia’s Budds Center for American Music Studies, and MU’s Sankofa Chorale to present an evening of Black spirituals, freedom songs, gospels, and readings on November 28th at the Sinquefield Music Center in Columbia, Missouri. We invite attendees to reflect on the involuntary movement of people and celebrate liberation as we highlight the Underground Railroad and its connection to Missouri, music, and movement. The performance will be led by co-conductors, Dr. Brandon A. Boyd and Ronnie Wilson.
This event is FREE and open to the public. This is not a ticketed event, and will be first come, first served. Program at 7:30 PM (Doors at 7:00 PM, Reception to follow the performance).
