Lights! Camera! Action! Missourians have contributed to the history of cinema since the earliest days of movie making. Dr. Sarah S. Jones, of the Missouri State Museum, celebrates the lives of Missouri women in the film industry from the Silent Era through mid-20th century. We will examine these heroines of entertainment and their connections to our state, their cinematic work, and their extraordinary lives. The Capitol’s Hall of Famous Missourians includes three such women: Josephine Baker, Ginger Rogers and Betty Grable.
The Missouri State Museum’s “Landing After Hours” program, is held the first Wednesday of each month at the Jefferson Landing State Historic Site,100 Jefferson Street. Doors to the Lohman Building will open at 6:30 and the program will start at 7 p.m. Convenient parking is available in the lot next to the Lohman Building.
