All Maps are Lies! With Kelly Johnston

Maps spur our imagination. Maps transport us. In maps we trust. But all maps are lies. Filled with example maps from the Show Me state and beyond, this program, co-sponsored with the Missouri Humanities Council, will forever change the way you look at maps. You’ll come away as a more informed and discerning map reader with an understanding that “not only is it easy to lie with maps, it is essential.” Johnston, a retired cartographer, is a Missouri native who has degrees from Indiana University and the University of Central Missouri. He has been a software developer and taught mapping at the University of Virginia and Drury University. A Zoom link will be posted prior to the start of the program.
