George Washington Carver called himself a trailblazer but he wasn’t the only one. Talk with a park ranger and explore contributions made by African American trailblazers and discover their pioneering achievements.
A lecture and powerpoint that explores Ulysses Grant's first steps in the conquest of the Mississippi Valley. Subjects include Grant's first battle of the Civil War (that took place in Mississippi County, Missouri) and the first ironclad warship to come under enemy fire on this continent.
